Watermelon Feta Salad

This easy summer salad is perfect if you want a refreshing starter or a light main course during summertime.

There are different varieties of this recipe, all of them totally cooling and wonderfully hydrating.

Here I’m going to write the recipe for the basic watermelon feta salad and some of the nutritional proprieties it contains.

 

 

 

Proprieties

 

  • Refreshing

  • Hydrating

  • Good source of Vitamins especially A, B6 and C, antioxidants and amino acids.

  • Good source of lycopene, which is a natural substance, (responsible for the red color in many foods, as for example watermelon), known for the powerful health benefits it provides such as antioxidants and cancer fighting agent.

  • Good source of protein intake thanks to feta cheese, from 4 to 5 grams of protein per ounce. (27g) One cup of feta (about 150g) contains 21g of protein.

  • Hight in Sodium and Potassium.

 

 

 

Ingredients

 

 

  • Watermelon

  • Organic Feta cheese (crumbled or in block)

  • Basil & Mint

  • Olive Oil

  • Salt, Pepper

  • Balsamic Vinaigrette if you like

 

 

 

 

 

Make It happens...

 

There's no quantities for this recipe. It's a salad; you can use each ingredient as much as you like. You don't like pepper? Don't use it! Do you love with extra - feta? Go for it! 

Don't esagerate with salt, tho. The feta cheese contains a good quantity of sodium already.

 

It can be a green salad, with a touch of red and white or a mainly red salad with a touch or green due to the use of basil and mint. It will be delish anyway.

 

Start chopping your watermelon in cubes. The dimension really depends on what you like.

And place it in a large bowl.

Add the crumbled feta cheese.

Add Basil and Mint. I suggest you to chop the large leaves, and lightly toss.

Transfer to a serving dish. Serve.
